Digicel PNG has a job position of VSAT Engineer.
VSAT Engineer is accountable in providing support & maintenance via standby/call for satellite transmission which includes voice, RF subsystem and data communication.
Role Responsibilities:
- Dedicated hands-on problem solver with strong technical background in VSAT & RF Sub-system (TDMA & SCPC) Monitoring these operating environments
- Support both internal & external ad-hoc request in timely manner to sustain operation stability and continuity
- Enhance existing operation process flow and diagram to suit new requirement
- Caretaker for VSAT hub systems such as iDirect, in optimizing services comply to SLA
- Create and provide continuous update on relevant operational documentation such as fault reports, maintenance reports, and service troubleshooting documents for RF equipment/subsystem
- Provide support in the field of Land, RF and antenna Subsystem, Data Communication & Voice for existing and new deployment services
- Support VSAT operations and maintenance i.e iDirect including configuration of satellite modem, installation, and commissioning of VSAT antenna remote sites
Qualification and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Communication Engineering or related fields
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
- Strong technical background in VSAT & RF Sub-system (TDMA & SCPC)
Functional Skills:
- Experience in Configuration, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting all range of equipment (iDirect, Comtech, Newtec) Modems and antenna associated with satellite earth stations and familiar with monitoring and controls hardware and software tools in addition to spectrum analyser
- Hands – on Experience in Pointing VSAT antenna System
- Good knowledge of operating and maintain a full range of C, Ku & KA Band satellite earth station and terminals. These includes VSAT and standard terminals in the range of 1.2m to 3.8m,4.5m, 4.8m, 7.3m and 9m antennas C-Band and KU-Band
- Hands-on experience in installation for KA-Band systems (RF – equipment and Baseband configuration)
- Hands-on integration for all the RF Cabling and measurements
- Experience in Working with iDirect NMS (iMonitor, iSite)
- Proficient in replacement of various equipment in Online Chain in case of fault arises or if replacement required for maintenance purpose
- Analytical skill in troubleshooting and providing solution for numerous issues related to satellite transmission across major services such as Base band & RF Subsystem
- Prominent problem solver in providing best technical solution for major issues related to satellite transmission
