Job : Laboratory Analyst

 South Pacific Brewery has an immediate requirement for a Laboratory Analyst– Port Moresby, reporting to the Quality Control Manager.


Main duties include:

  • Sampling, Registration, Analysis and Reporting of Results of incoming raw materials, incoming packaging materials, utilities, products-in-process, and finish goods as per the sampling plan and bench attachment.
  • Ensuring conformance with specifications/tolerance and update all result in specific records forms and Qualass and FTR Database.
  • Define work procedures, maintenance standards and troubleshooting guides
  •  Continuously support the Production Departments by providing reliable and validated results for all analyses carried out.
  •  Define and review the maintenance standards for electrical and automation equipment.
  •  Provide timely feedback of production information (product quality or raw material defects) to concerned parties.
  •  Carry out appropriate maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment according to set schedules so that the analyses do not deviate because of instrument error.
  •  Update record of maintenance and calibration in respective equipment logbook.
  •  Carry out validation checks on all analysis by ensuring FLC/RB samples are ran daily and take appropriate corrective actions if results are deviating i.e., when rules are violated.
  •  Plot all FLCs results on their respective charts daily (shewart 5) and make remarks where necessary.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in applied science/Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology). 3-5 years’ experience with process control and assurance.
  • At least 2 – 3 years laboratory work experience or Food Production area.
  • Experience in Quality Systems Implementation, Maintenance and Execution of Audits. E.g.: ISO, LMS, HACCP, GMP, etc.… (<1000 Volts), Power distribution systems, Coding equipment (laser, ink).
  • Calibration High level of integrity and honesty required.
  • Good Team Player/hard worker /open personality.
  • Takes Initiative and is proactive in job responsibility.
