Islands Petroleum (IP), an independently owned fuel and lubricants distributor and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea, is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Licensed Electrician to be based at its Rabaul Depot Operations in East New Britain Province.

This position is responsible for carrying out electrical installation, troubleshooting, and preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical and electronic equipment while ensuring full compliance with company regulations, safety standards, and HSEQ requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, install and maintain electrical systems and equipment on site
• Perform corrective and preventive electrical maintenance
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot faults
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, components and apparatus using testing tools
• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment and appliances
• Read and interpret single line drawings (SLD) for electrical and instrumentation systems
• Ensure compliance with company regulations and safety procedures
• Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead and Senior Engineer
• Maintain high safety awareness including PPE, JSA and permits
• Prepare reports on equipment efficiency and maintenance activities
• Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager

Job Requirements:

• Trade Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Certified Electrician with High Voltage Certification
• Valid PPL License
• 3–5 years experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role
• Experience in oil & gas, mining or industrial environment is an advantage
• Strong troubleshooting and electrical system knowledge
• Proficiency in using electrical tools such as multimeters and voltage testers
• Good communication and comprehension skills
• Well-organized, adaptable and safety conscious
• East New Britain based candidates are encouraged to apply
