An immediate vacancy is available within the APD Operations section of the Asset Protection Department for the mentioned position. The role of Static Guards is crucial in safeguarding the safety and security of our premises, assets, and personnel. As a Static Guard, your responsibilities will include maintaining a visible presence, preventing unauthorized access, and promptly addressing security breaches or incidents at PJV. The incumbent will be an integral part of a dynamic team of PJV Asset Protection Department and will be expected to fulfil the following duties and responsibilities.
Key Duties and responsibilities:
- Conducting regular patrols and monitoring of designated areas to detect and prevent security breaches
- Managing access points, verifying credentials, and ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises
- Provide assistance and information to visitors, employees and clients while maintaining a professional manner
- Conduct searches as required by APD Operations on all employees and vehicles entering or exiting the site
- Support the APD Operations Supervision team by promptly reporting any violations of company policies or suspicious activities
- Take responsibility for safeguarding company properties regardless of their value
- Demonstrate awareness of environmental impact resulting from assigned tasks
- Uphold a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness, adhering to the PJV Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Policy, and following all related rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a security-related role with a stable work history is preferred but not mandatory
- Able to work long hours and on shifts (night and day and on weekends) and conducting regular patrols while remaining alert
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Able to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
- Understanding of basic security procedures, protocols and the ability to handle security equipment
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and the ability to adhere to assigned schedules
Qualifications
- Genuine Ipili-speaking locals from Categories 1A (SML), 1B (LMP) and Cat 2 (Other Ipili)
- Educational qualification of Grade 6 or Similar
- Able to speak Pidgin and basic English
- Can read and understand basic site safety and security signage
