Job : Food Technologist

 We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated Food Technologist who will be based in (Lae) and reporting to the Research and Development Coordinator (Port Moresby).


The Role: (Job responsibilities)


  • writing and updating of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for all tasks undertaken in the Production and Packaging departments.
  • preparing questionnaires and assessment forms to assist the training requirements for the task procedures.
  • Product and Process Specification preparation and update
  • Carry out and report on all site trials for Product Development or Product Improvement including production and packaging trials as required.  This will be performed in conjunction with the Head Office Research and Development Coordinator.
  • Develop site Standard Operational Procedures and Work Instructions that are comprehensive, allowing the designated task to be carried out safely and effectively.
  • Ensure Product Specifications are prepared for each SKU and maintained.
  • Carry out plant analyses to provide accurate Process Specifications for each SKU.
  • Be responsible for identifying cost reduction opportunities through analysis of current production parameters, and implementing improvements, whilst maintaining product safety and quality.
  • Ensure that all site policies and procedures are met when conducting site trials or carrying out analytical work.
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure that any work carried out is done so with the knowledge of the departments affected and that it is conducted in such a way that it assists each department in meeting the company’s objectives.
  •  Ensure that relevant trial data information is collated accurately and available to staff on site as required.

About You: (Job requirements)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology preferred,
  • At least three 3 years’ experience and demonstrated success in similar position, preferably exposure in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with excellent communication skills
  • Production experience in FMCG with biscuit/flour background preferred
  • Ability to organise own workload to achieve targets.
  • Knowledgeable in Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, OH&S and HR Methods,
  • Ability to liaise with different levels of management and departments to achieve required outcomes
  • Organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines through multi-tasking
  • Effective systems planning and implementation processes
