Group Accountant

Location: Port Moresby

This is a pivotal role where you will support the Group Financial Controller in audit, budgeting, tax, and consolidated financial reporting while shaping the financial future of our operations.

The Role

As our Group Accountant, you will be more than a number-cruncher—you will be a key business partner. You will provide actionable insights, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure robust financial governance across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

 Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets.
- Monitor costs, margins, and profitability across events, contracts, and outlets.
- Deliver in-depth variance analysis and recommend strategic corrective actions.

 Cost Control & Efficiency
- Track expenditures to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Champion cost-saving initiatives that maintain high service quality.
- Support pricing strategies with accurate, data-driven financial models.

 Reporting & Compliance
- Produce timely, accurate financial reports for senior management.
- Ensure strict adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
- Act as a key liaison for auditors and external stakeholders.

 Business Partnering
- Collaborate with finance teams to align financial goals with overall business strategy.
- Advise executive management on investment opportunities and risk management.

⚙️ Systems & Process Improvement
- Enhance financial systems and reporting tools to boost accuracy and efficiency.
- Streamline processes to improve transparency, accountability, and internal controls.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA full membership is a must).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Pronto accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Mindset: Commercially astute with the ability to balance financial discipline with operational realities.

- Detail-oriented with a proactive, self-starting mindset.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence decision-making.

Location: Must be based in Port Moresby.
