The Bank is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Financial Reporting Manager. The successful candidate will lead the Financial Accounting function and ensure the timely delivery of statutory reporting, general ledger controls, IFRS 9 provisioning, external audit coordination, and compliance with financial reporting standards and prudential requirements. The role also provides financial oversight for Pacific Markets and Subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation and finalisation of half year and annual financial statements for the Bank and Group in accordance with IFRS and the Companies Act
• Lead the audit process including planning, responses, coordination and closure with external auditors
• Oversee preparation and review of month end journals including general provisions, IFRS 16 leases, write offs and recoveries
• Ensure accuracy of financial results submitted by Pacific Markets and Subsidiaries, including monthly EXCO commentary
• Consolidate forecasts, budgets and reforecasts for Pacific entities and support board paper preparation
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, BPNG Prudential Standards and internal accounting policies
• Coordinate preparation of Group level financial statement notes related to provisions and off balance sheet exposures
• Support recalibration processes for provisioning under IFRS 9
• Manage and mentor the Financial Accounting team to build capability and succession
• Drive continuous improvement and process efficiency across the reporting cycle
• Assist with ad hoc queries, internal audit requests and special projects
• Coordinate and review staff rewards and benefits calculations including bonuses, leave accruals and allowances, ensuring accurate ledger posting and reporting disclosures

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business
• Certified Practicing Accountant PNG or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 years experience in financial reporting or audit
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS 9 and other IFRS standards
• Advanced understanding of financial statement preparation and interpretation including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and disclosures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong financial analysis and general ledger control experience
• Proven leadership and staff development skills
