Papua New Guinea Maritime College is seeking a highly organized and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• A recognized Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
• Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer
• Hands on experience with MYOB accounting software
• Sound knowledge of Papua New Guinea’s legislative framework, including tax laws and employment regulations
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficiently process all payroll transactions in a timely manner
• Collect, calculate, and enter employee data to maintain accurate payroll records
• Prepare detailed summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave balances, gratuities, and non-taxable wages
• Maintain comprehensive and up to date documentation on all payroll related matters
• Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies promptly
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures in all payroll operations
