Job: Terrestrial Conservation Coordinator with WCS

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is on the lookout for an enthusiastic Terrestrial Conservation Coordinator to lead their impactful conservation programs in Papua New Guinea. If you’re passionate about protecting biodiversity, managing terrestrial ecosystems, and engaging with communities for sustainable resource use, this is your opportunity to make a difference!



Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement technical conservation programs.
  • Collect and analyze ecological and social data.
  • Build capacity among stakeholders and engage with communities.
  • Facilitate terrestrial protected area planning and management.
  • Drive stakeholder collaboration across traditional owners, government bodies, and special interest groups.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in managing terrestrial wildlife conservation projects and community engagement.
  • Expertise in protected area planning, including joint management planning.
  • Knowledge of terrestrial ecosystems, wildlife management, and associated environmental, social, and cultural dynamics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and project management.
  • Critical Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional computer literacy (MS Office, internet, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication and conflict management skills.
