Barrick (Niugini) Limited (BNL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. BNL is an independently managed company and is jointly owned through an equal partnership between Barrick Gold and Zijin Mining Group. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

Position Objective
An opportunity has become available for a highly experienced Mine Technical Services Manager who will be responsible for the integration and coordination of engineering, geological, geotechnical, surveying and projects functions for both the underground and open cut to enable the production teams to safely achieve the Budget and Life of Mine Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identification of value adding initiatives and scoping value against hurdle criteria to justify further studies.
- Undertake evaluation and management of agreed and assigned long term projects.
- Assist with the development and management of systems to enable the achievement of the strategic plan.
- Prepare reports as required on assigned projects, these reports may be bi-lingual (English and Chinese).
- Translate reports as required for corporate submission and site distribution.
- Assist with the development of mine plans and related reports.
- Prepare financial models for assigned long term projects
To be suitable for this role, you will possess the following:
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in engineering
- Significant experience in underground and open pit production and planning in a gold mining operation.
- Knowledge of mineral resource and mineral reserve estimation procedures and techniques compliant with NI-43-101.
- Demonstrated success in long term resource identification and evaluation.
- Experience in the development and implementation of management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of engineers in mining engineering and related disciplines.
- Significant experience in underground and open pit production engineering in a gold mining operation.
- Experience in Life of Mine Planning and Mine Planning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mining technology and heavy production equipment.
- Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
- Experience in managing costs and budgeting.
- Ability to translate technical reports to and from English and Chinese.
- Proven experience in training and developing a national workforce
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (preferable).
- Current Drivers Licence.
This position is open to Papua New Guinea Nationals and Expatriates.
Your primary location will be the Porgera Mine Site. For PNG Nationals the roster is a fly in, fly out rotation on 21 days on, 14 days off. For anyone who resides outside of Papua New Guinea the roster is a fly in, fly out rotation on 21 days on, 14 days off.
