 HID3741 – COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER 

Harmony Gold are seeking to recruit a Community Liaison Officer for their People – Community Affairs Department. Reporting to the Community Zone Liaison Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high level of Community Liaison, managing, facilitating and producing information packages that are in line with MCG policies and procedures. Will also be able to liaise between Communities and the HV Mine Management for better understanding and co-operation on matters affecting the mine operations. Support Community Zone Liaison Supervisor to deliver Mine Operations updates to Land Owner Communities, Communities along the Access Road, Highway and Wau/Bulolo and the Local Level Governments in the District as well.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Ensure all information disseminated are consistent, in line with MCG polices, and plans

• Maintaining close relations with District and LLGs for support and implementation of MCG plans and polices

• Ensure Mine Update awareness is carried out in all the Mine affected Communities with consistency either on quarterly or bi- annually 

• Maintaining close dialogue and relationship with all Key Stakeholders and other sections on monthly briefings on issues and concerns

• Produce information packages and deliver to all the communities. (ML Landowners, Access road, Highway and Riverine)

• Providing support for other CA sections (Lands, Agriculture, Business development, SIMU Gender, Media) in their respective tasks

• Providing updates to CA Management on community concerns and grievances

• Maintain communications at all times with HV LO and Leaders

• Updating contact lists of all stakeholders at all times

• Produce reports as required by the Community Zone Supervisor

• Maintain all Hidden Valley safety protocols

• Work with APD to maintain good order on ML 151 and along the access road and the surrounding areas

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Management or in Communication for Development

• Good analytical and problem solving skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong report writing skills

• Possess strong negotiation, planning and organisational skills

• Able to supervise and maintain relationship within work area

• Have a valid class 3 or 6 PNG’s Driver’s license

• Strong focus to Safety

• Excellent computer skills in Word and Excel
